Impatient Netflix subscriber? Hit up Blockbuster

In an sure attempt to sway current Netflix customers to its own mail-based movie rental service, Blockbuster is now offering free rentals through December 21st for any current Netflix subscribers.

In an obvious attempt to attract its rival’s customers to its own online movie rental service, Blockbuster will let Netflix subscribers with a Blockbuster membership rent movies from its stores for free through December 21. The Netflix member would have to exchange the tear off address flaps from their envelopes to receive the movie, the company says.

It’s difficult to compete with the original mail based movie rental service (even if you do offer in store returns and rentals). I am a current Netflix owner [thanks Dan for making me borderline obsessive when it comes to movie rentals] and I have never had an interest in the Blockbuster service. I may have to take the yellow & blue up for their free rentals in exchange for Netflix tabs though… just to bide my time during the 1-2 day turn-around for Netflix to arrive.

id bite if they had Blu-Ray movies in store, but the mail box across the street from my office is alot easier to get to than getting in my car and driving to blockbuster and hoping they send my movies back to netflix right now.

Its nice to be able to drop my netflix envelopes off before the morning pick up here in san jose and get another movie in 2 days.
