Hacking the Wiimote

This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. The Nintendo Wii’s Wiimote interfaces with the Wii over a bluetooth connection, and with a Bluetooth connection you can coax it to pair with a normal PC. Already enterprising hackers, have begun to understand how the controller functions, as well as reading the accelerometer. I doubt it won’t be long until you can use the Wiimote on your computer for some cool Minority report style computing. [via]
hmmm, I think the reverse will be seen soon too. Bot-style PC apps to emulate a users on the Wii. Who needs to download save games or walkthru’s when you can just download a script to play the game for you, or just get past that hard bit that was taking you ages to get past.
Cool, how bout the PS3 SIXAXIS and crossing hacking the two (Wiimote on ps3 and vice versa)
This is one of the best things that could happen to Nintendo.
If someone successfully pulls of a nice hack for the Wiimote, and enthusiasts want to tinker with it, that means more sales for the Wiimotes and possibly the console.
I always thought that if Microsoft had embraced Xbox Linux and actually used it to their benefit, that sales would have been a little better just based on the fact that they would have supported tinkering. So far, none of the big three have fully allowed you to have options like that, but Sony is close with the Linux installs on PS3.
This would be cool if you could use the wiimote to move the mouse cursor!
