We love things that are fast! Fast food, Fast Cars, Fast Internet. Why should my browser lag? Fasterfox is REALLY cool extension that adds a HEMI to FireFox. The extension works by tweakings network settings, adjusting the pre-cache, pipelining, DNS cache, and initial paint delay.

As an added bonus Fasterfox has a little page load timer that shows how much time it has saved you!

If you feel as if you are lagging, this is the extension for you! Also, if you have any other speed tweaking tips – feel free to drop them in the comments!

Now don’t spend that one second all in one place!

Can you revert back to OEM settings if these crap out? Sounds kinda like overclocking to me. The link has no info on this one…

  4. Kibby says:

Please keep in mind that some of these settings are known to drive server admins mad. Be nice please.

I’ve been using Fasterfox for a while, and I’ve never had any problems with it. It’s convenient to see how long a page loads, especially when you’re developing your own sites.

  6. Dogcow says:

Like kibby said, make sure to go into adons and change the preferencs of fasterfox to optimized or less to be within RFC specs.

i’ve been using Google Web Accelerator: http://webaccelerator.google.com/ since it came out last year, it works on the same principle, but since it was from google, it got more publicity, bad and good. It’s the same thing, and according to it, ive saved days of time…

  8. king says:

    it DOES load faster!
i wonder how they do that

  9. Francis says:

I’m confused, how do I use the timer?

    Here one speed tip:

    Use Opera!

Google web accelerator doesnt work it in same way, it preloads all the links on a page, making it seam faster but it also uses up more of the webnsites, and your own, bandwidth. Not good. Fasterfox looks like it just tweaks some setting to make it go faster.

Are you sure this will work, because I used Google Web Accelerator last week, and it actually lagged my browser MORE
