How Do the Graphics on the Next Gen Game Consoles stack up?

Wondered how the graphics of the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii stacked up? The folks over at Game Trailers examined Call of Duty 3 on all three systems, and let you judge what’s best.

Xbox seems to have a crisper picture to me.
The character in the Wii system look like they are wearing clown makeup.

hahaah, I was thinking the same thing. Wii seems way to cartoonish…
But Xbox and Ps3 are close… Im gonna go with Xbox.. cause I just bought one and need to convince myself that it is way better than the ps3!

overall I think xbox360 takes the biscuit, followed by Playstation3. However, I don’t think the Wii is bad at all, about as good as an xBox. I look forward to getting mine…

Everyone knew the Wii was behind in graphics. Nintendo themselves has admitted this.
It would be interesting if someone compared the gameplay between the consoles…it seems graphics are all that matters to most people.
Personally I don’t think the Wii graphics were half bad… I think the lighting is much better, whereas I think the lighting is absolute shit on PS3.
Xbox has the sharpest image and decent lighting but you’d expect that from an Xbox wouldn’t you?
PS3 is the worst console by graphics & gameplay in my opinion.
wouldnt these videos be compressed for streaming play anyway? so these graphics cant be exactly how they’d appear on a real TV
Dude, i played all 3 at WAL-MART and trust me, PS3 has the best graphics. They were all running NBA07 between the Wii, 360, PS2, and PS3 and not only did PS3 have the best graphics, but 360s graphics werent that much better than PS2s..In this vid tho, it doesnt look like that tho, youll all have to go check it out for yourselves
Fast forward 6 months and see the difference, the PS3 screen will just show “Disc is dirty or damaged” :-)
Ummmm, what was that about Gameplay??? They are the same exact game… Thats why we CAN compare graphics. Other than the controller configuration, they would all play exactly the same! so Yes Graphics are the factor in question here!

maybe the graphics of that game simply wasnt all that good
or were made best for xbox 360
I have all 3 systems and well the PS3 wins hands down. Francis is just gay and probably mad he could not find a PS3 so he tells him self 360 is better to justify his anger of not having one. The lighting is much better on PS3 because of the utilization of HDMI, how the 360 could be better is beyond me. PS3 also has the best gameplay as it is like a 360 controller but better and has motion sensing which works awesome.

thats ironic… esspecially because they don’t have Wii’s on display for shoppers to play with at most places… but mostly because NBA 07 isn’t even out on the Wii after my last round of checks.

If gameplay doesn’t matter then why have the controllers for games systems changed since pong? … Gameplay def. matters… without the Wii wouldn’t even be launched… we have never made it out of concept art. Also… if gameplay doesn’t matter you should just start renting Pixar DVD’s on an HD TV.. its great, you don’t even have to move while you’re “Playing” them.

XBOX looks the best by far, PS3 is a bit disappoing… and from personal experience of a Wii on a 60″ HD TV… the Wii graphics suck…. the gameplay is one of a kind and helps kinda forget that… but at times I just get pissed…. I mean tack on an extra $100 to the MSRP and get a better video chip!
all in all, XBox 360 wins the graphics, Wii wins the gameplay, PS3’s cell processor will rip the graphics department apart in the coming “months/years”
I have all three systems and I rented Call of Duty and did my own tests. While watching the videos I admit the xbox looks better because of the sharper image and lighting. However in person on my HD TV I gurantee you with my life the PS3 looks better. Also lets not forget the PS3 is new and 360s games are alittle more developed.
P.S. I did this test with a few other games ps3 vs the 360 and the ps3 is still better, i am not a fanboy at all and all the different people that tested at my house agree. the ps3 isnt much better, but better none the less.
Was reading an article made by a programer who worked on both the 360 and playstation 3 and he mentioned that xbox 360 was much easier console to make games for. The playstation 3 is more complicated and requires more work and money to really use the playstation 3 games at its full potential. Also many of playstation 3’s early games are mulitplatform and were made originally for the xbox 360 and have been ported just to run on playstation 3 so they were made to run well for 360, not so much on the other consoles.

Dude, I wasn’t saying that Gameplay wasnt important! Just how can you compare the Gameplay of 3 of the exact same game!! Maybe you have a different definition of gameplay. If you wanna compare Gameplay, play 3 different FOOTBALL games… and compare how each one plays differently and look for the best GAMEPLAY. But if all you test is Madden 07 PS3, it is the same as Madden 07 xbox360, WITH THE EXCEPTION of the CONTROLS. not sure wtf the pong statement was supposed to prove.
4 some resason every time i see ps3 graphics in blog’s there’s a tendence to put the pics too much brigther and that’s why x360 looks better shadows. In this pic x360 looks crisp because the soldier in the other 2 ps3 and wii are too close to the camera.
The wii is an amazing console and is way better than the xbox 360 and PS3 put together!!!! The wii is immense !!!!!!!!
Just do some research to see wich platform has the best graphic card, be aware of the market sales of each products, know who is backing up blue-ray and hd-dvd, understand the differences of 1080i vs 1080p, is it a disadvantage to have an extra drive to read your movies to save your current internal drive to play your games for a longer period of time? See with your own eyes at BB or anywhere else that offers a live demonstration of the products, wich format has more movies available now and in a near future, since when are they programming games on both platforms ( Wich platform will get optimal results from well programmed and non ported products ex. Gears of War first), wich one can offer you multimedia experience from your PC, i can continue and ad on more but i will keep some for my next reply, btw gameplay is a combination of many factors and this is really personnal and varies, i do not have all platforms but i am lucky enough to have access to any games and any consoles apart the WII because we do not have a display in my store, the XBOX 360 is my personnal choice since the 22nd of november last year and the Fanboys just missed a year of good gameplay probably just because in part they hate Microsoft or other non relevant reasons, have fun and lets see what will happen in a near future

So, I have all three platforms, me having xbox 360 and Ps3, and my little brother having Wii, but we share. I say the xbox 360 has the best graphics so far because there company has had alot of time to develop there games around there software capiblities. Ps3 on the other hand has alot of potential to have ultimate graphics with more complex realistic things happening in a scene, but they have’nt reached its potential at all because it’s new on da block. Just wait a year and ps3 will be better graphics, but for now xbox 360 gets the props in graphics(GOW). Don’t forget, xbox has planned a new model release of the 360 having a sleeker look, quieter processor, and HDMI compatibility, so the war is not over in graphics. For the Wii, great system for controls and game ideas. Nintendo is known for there intelligence and inivative games.They don’t need good graphics( even tho there ok) because thats not what nintendo is known for, there known for great inavative games, and gameplay. Just wait for Smash Bros Brawl online, its going to be tight as hell. Games are always going to be the deciding factor in the best cosole and graphics do not matter, but they are nice to look at.
I think the x box 360s graphics are a little crisper than ps3 but i think when the developers get more used to ps3 it will have the edge over xbox360. Wii graphics are as good as ps3 and xbox360’s but the game play is probably better with the fully motion controllers.
Wii looks more of a finished format. The graphics in the other 2 consoles are good, but not looking as realistic has Wii. I’m not in bias with any of the major names. I just felt that Wii looked more realisic than other. For graphics, I will go with Wii.
why are people still caught up about the fact that wii doesn’t look as good as ps3 and xbox360? Nintendo HAVE admitted that they were losing out in the oh-so-important ‘great war of graphics’ so went for a completly different edge which is gameplay. Unfortunatly in this case the gameplay of call of duty 3 (being rushed and all) some of the gameplay mechanics just do not work with sensitivity of actions oftens causing death.
However, in all of this (and here is the point that may shock) there is simply no reason to be developing games for HD because NO tv’s are ready for it. Now I know a fair few people will be chortling, pointing at the fat sign that says ‘HD ready’ on their systems, but you my friends have the wrong TV. That only means that a HD signal can be recieved, not displayed. TRUE HD is the fat sticker you want on your TV system and as far as broadcasting goes TRUE HD won’t be around for at least another 5 years by which time Nintendo will start to think about improving their graphics some

i think ps3 is better because i play the nba 07 on it and u could actually sêe what the clothe are made of and in the 360 u cant. 360 just use a regular dvd and ps3 use blu-ray disc so it hold 10x more details than regular DVD.
