In IKEA we trust

You’ve got to love it. Swedes have more faith in their local IKEA retailer than they do the church. It sounds like some people are preaching to easy to build cabinets and meatballs.

Perhaps the news shouldn’t come as much of a surprise, coming as it does from a country best known for its meatballs and the bright blue and yellow warehouses selling cheap and cheerful furniture around the globe. Still, preacher men the world over must be reeling. A new poll taken of Swedes indicates that more people trust IKEA than the church in the largely Protestant country. [...]

IKEA isn’t the only company Swedes trust more than the church — the list also includes Volvo (69 percent), Ericsson (59), Saab (57) and pharmaceutical giant Astra Zeneca (47) as well as four other companies that beat out the church on the trust factor.

So now the question turns to our readers. What or who do you trust / believe in more over the church… or government?

I always think of IKEA when thinking of Sweden, but that is because of seeing “Product of Sweden” on IKEA boxes at home as a kid

Now if i think Volvo I do think of Sweden too, but if I think of Sweden I do not think of Volvo, just IKEA, lol

funny how the mind works. I guess I should comment on this situation, but to be honest, I am not surprised, but I am surprised that the Swedish church ranked 14th most trusted, but I don’t know anything about that church.

i don’t trust the church, i don’t trust the government, but i do trust faith and spirituality. I trust myself.

  5. I trust Ron Popeil about as much as I trust “the church” or “the government.” Have you ever used one of this rotisseries? That’s good chicken!

the first thing that i noticed after I moved to sweden was ikea furiture is everywhere! it becomes a little creepy when every single place you go in has the same stuff but i more than believe the poll. oh, the swedish church is Lutheran (though they like to simply call it the Swedish Church).
