After weeks of speculation, Palm has announced the long awaited and much anticipated Treo 680 on Cingular Wireless.

The devices confirmed specs are:

  • GSM/GPRS/EDGE Class 10 (850/900/1800/1900)Internal Quad-band antenna with better TIS/TRP performance than 650 (Which was a REALLY HIGH radiation number)
  • 64MB user memory
  • 64MB SDRAM
  • Intel 312 MHz processor
  • Built-in Bluetooth®1.2 wireless technology
  • Lithium-ion removablebattery (1200 mAh)
  • 320 x 320 TFT color display (65K colors)
  • SD/MultiMediaCard/SDIOcard slot

It’s dimensions are 4.4”x 2.3”x 0.8” weighing in at 5.5 ounces, whihc makes it slightly thinner and lighter then the 700 series smart phone.

Two items to note, besides the boosted memory and streaming media support, the Treo 680 is bilingual (Full OS support for Spanish and English). Also, Palm has decided that they are going to pull out the stops to really make this smart phone available and usable to the general public. To do this the Treo 680 comes with a dedicated “Treo Help Desk” toll free number, that will provide any Cingular customer with 90 days of free setup support.

The Treo 680 goes on sale this Friday, November 24th for $199 with a two year service agreement, and $375 for an unlocked model (available in multiple colors from Palm.com)
