Collaborative text editing, essential for group projects where sharing and editing code is a necessity. Sadly, up until now, Windows users were left out of the fun of collaborative test editing. Fortunately, Windows users can take ‘e – The Collaborative Text Editor’ out for a spin. The Windows (beta) application allows users to share and edit in real time with other ‘e’ users over a local network including the option for version control. Not too shabby as I have often wondered where and when the Windows equivalent of SubEthaEdit would be developed.

Sadly, there are no current desktop applications solutions which will allow both Windows and OS X users to edit and share text files. For now, cross-editing on both operating systems will be limited to web based services like Google Docs.
