Older versions of iTunes can access iTMS again?

MacFixIt is reporting that readers who have elected to stick with older version of iTunes are now able to access the iTMS (iTunes Music Store) again. Unfortunately, I do not have an older version of iTunes to test for myself. Can any readers confirm that older software can indeed access the store?

“The other week I had spotted an blurb about a user not being able to access iTunes Store with an older version of iTunes. I had the same problem for a few days at both home and at work. I had emailed my confirmation of findings at the time. In case I missed any update to the situation on macfixit, here is the new news. I can now access iTMS at home on my Pismo (4.7), my last of the line PowerBook G4 1.67GHz 15″ dual layer (4.9), and my junky Dell at work (4.7 Windows version). I have not tried to buy music because I figure that it still blocked, but at least now I can browse the selections and look for new music.”

The above blurb from a MacFixIt reader.
