Anticipating the arrival of the Wii gaming console, it’s time to start weighing our options as far as exploiting the rig for “other” purposes. Check out the WiiLi Wiki for resources on running a live Linux distro on the Wii console without the need for any hardware hacks / mods.

Not trying to burst anyone’s bubble…..but this guy doesn’t have a clue. I read the wiki, soon after he started it and there were statements made by the guy (now removed) that stated that he has absolutely no experience with linux or making it run on any hardware. Period. He said it was just an idea of his for some school project. That has all to do with why he keeps asking for people that want to help.

In a nutshell, he assumes that since the Wii is esentially Gamecube 1.5, that linux MUST just run on it, like it did on a GC. I’m pretty damn sure that Nintendo didn’t just relax their protection scheme completely, and if it is as simple as running linux in Gamecube mode, then it isn’t WiiLi at all……….just Gamecube Linux all over again.

Maybe I should start a wiki for 360Linux? Since it ran on the first Xbox, and the 360 plays xbox titles (some), then it must just work……….*POOF*, just like that.
