    Hmmm…

Looking deeper, I guess an led flashlight strapped to a headset and then viewed through green lenses would make it a night vision goggle.

Without the lens, it would be called a flashlight.

I already have an LED headlamp (cyclops-looking thing), now where did I put my green sunglasses and my blowgun?

Why would green be the choice of night vision color anyway? The headlamp I already own has some red LEDs in it that are supposed to be for viewing things better in complete darkness. Surprisingly, it actually works pretty well. But WOW it sure is hard to adjust to normal daylight after youve been in an attic/basement for a few hours pulling wire using the red LEDs.

@matt red is used just because it is easier on the eyes than other colors. and green is the general color that most true night vision goggles use :P.
