Nothing says “look at me ladies” than a fancy mobile handset. At least that’s what a recent article by Silicon.com claims. Men flashing fancy mobiles to pick up girls lays claim to the idea that whipping out your mobile handset is the new way to win the ladies. Yes, that’s correct. Mobile handsets are the new pick-up lines.

Forget the cheesy chat-up lines, flash car or dodgy dancing, men are now whipping out their mobiles to attract the ladies, research from Sheffield Hallam University reveals. The research also found men actively display their phones more than women in social situations to look important and popular and also to show off to male peers. [...] Yates said men might fiddle with mobiles because they don’t have handbags or anywhere else to store them and the phones can also act as a point of conversation with one’s peers. “But they could just be showing off,” he added.

I can not stress how absolutely ridiculous this idea is. Can anyone attest to cellphones being a surefire way to win with the ladies? Ack, I can’t even hold a straight face thinking that this works. “Hey baby, check out my N-Series… It runs Symbian Rrrrargh.”
