Fancy running Windows applications on OS X without the need to boot into Windows via Parallels or Boot Camp? I sure do. Having my right armed tied behind my back, I am often forced into debugging sites rendered by Microsofts long-time favorite – Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, to do so on OS X requires that I boot into Parallels. While the Windows boot time is nothing to complain about, the idea of leaving the entire Windows OS behind is an altogether surreal feeling. Thankfully, the CodeWeavers team is hard at work improving their CrossOver Mac software.

What is CrossOver Mac? Simply put, CrossOver allows OS X users to install Windows applications & Games without the need to boot an entire operating system. Granted, the convenience is only afforded to those in possession of an Intel powered Mac. The CodeWeavers team recently announced the availability of the Beta 3 release which I quickly downloaded. If you’re interested, the releases are on 60-day trials for non-registered users. Go ahead and give the software a try. Your days of Window reliance are nearly a thing of the past.
