Well I thought it was funny…

  2. Jerry says:

ALOT disappointed. The whole episode was boring. Is every ep. going to be anti-war now? I didn’t laugh but maybe once the whole 1/2 hour.

Pretty bad when American Dad is funnier than the Simpsons.

  3. Adam Jackson says:

yea however i think their approach was just wrong. I’ll still go see it. and definetly buy the DVD just acuse I’m a simpsons fan

This season is pretty good so far. I enjoyed yesterday’s episode. I’m certainly not going to be opposed to something because it is “anti-war” (which is a funny comment to make before going on to say American Dad was better, which is, by concept, pretty much anti-everything-that-supports-the-war).

American Dad sucked anyway (not only is it a rip off of Family Guy, [fine, it's the same people - they ripped off themselves], which is a rip off of the Simpsons, it’s now also ripping off South Park [the whole online world thing was very reminiscent of the WoW episode]).

And a Simpsons movie is a bad idea regardless, but the trailer was pretty okay – it was a trailer after all, not the movie or an episode.

The 2D look is so boring. It’s just a trailer, lets see when it’s launch.

I am still disappointed by the 2D animation style though.

  6. Incredibly Fatman says:

So…is anyone else amused by the fact that the first half of the trailer is proclaiming how proud they are to be 2D, and then they cut to Homer driving crane that is clearly a 3D model rendered to look 2D?

  7. Bugaboo says:

you do know the American Dad episode was probably created first in terms that it only takes Trey and Matt as little as 3 days to complete an episode (that’s why they can keep up with current events better) but it takes the animation studio for 20th Century Fox over 8 months to complete one episode. So in actuallity, just because South Park’s WoW episode aired first, Fox most likely had it planned months ahead of time…

  8. Mike says:

not a terrible trailer, although i would’ve liked moe to say something in response to the narrator’s “one film dares to be ugly” instead of just stating what we can all read. looks like it could be a decent movie though, i’ll go see it.

  9. Jerry says:

@mark: It wasn’t un-funny because it was anti-war, it was un-funny because it was just not funny. The last few seasons have gone WAY downhill… And I was a major fan in years gone by. (The anti-war thing is just a coincidence that two episodes in a row now are anti-war.)

And any cartoon is now considered to be “ripping off” The Simpsons it seems. Whatever.

({[ ...and ease up on the parenthesis...]})

  10. @Incredibly Fatman – I thought the same thing. -)

The trailer was funny, I guess, but I was disappointed because it was so hyped up.

And The Simpsons has been going downhill for the past few years. Remember the episode they had after the Super Bowl a few years back? It stunk big-time. They really need to just take the show off the air.

  11. Roger says:

Geez, you guys are harsh! I agree that the trailer doesn’t make me want to go see the movie (hell, I don’t even watch the show very often any more, and it’s FREE), but I think it’s not so much that the show is any better or worse than it was when it started, it’s just been on forever, so anyone who watched it at the start really probably ought to be bored by now. On the other hand, topical references are best when they’re, well, topical, so I imagine that people who only tuned in for the last year or two think it’s as funny as I used to think back in the day.

  12. Misterboy says:

    Good observation Incredibly Fatman,

That was the first thing that went through my mind… that I was watching 3D animation.

The Trailer looked great. I could have done without the opening 3D bunny stuff, but that’s for the non Simpson fans I’d wager? Those who wouldn’t be expecting an animated film not in 3D? I hope.

It’s just a complete rip-off of the South Park Movie trailer with the joke about uber-animators using the latest techniques while a 3D Cartman head is being drawn in wireframe. Oh well.

  13. Steve says:

Looks brutal. (But do I think y’all are being a bit harsh.)

  14. Homer Simpson says:

The downloadable trailer is not in HD! It is less than 1280 x 720 pixels and is also blurry.

  15. Jezzem says:

you know why this is “a little disappointing”? because you’ve hyped up a TEASER so much by saying “OHHHHHH LOOK ITS A NEW SIMPSONS MOVIE TRAILER” if you watch the actual trailer you would find it much less disappointing

  16. Cupcake Candle says:

The Simpsons Movie was actually very entertaining.

(Yes, the newer episodes aren’t as good, but it’s difficult to keep up something that hilarious for years and years!) The trailer shows what the movie is about pretty well, which is what it’s supposed to do… (minus the romantic troubles, but whatever XP)…
