The Treo 680 costs HOW MUCH?!
The folks over at Palm must be drinking too much of their own Kool-aid. The Treo 680 was designed as a budget, entry level smart phone for the masses, and frankly that is exactly what the company needed. When Palm announced the Treo 680, it was rumored to have a sub $100 price point because it was based upon the Treo 650 technology.
Then I saw a PowerPoint presentation generated by Cingular [via] that has the LIST PRICE of the Treo 680 as $424.99 with out a contract, and $274.99 with a TWO YEAR agreement. That is INSANE. Is the price a value? Debate that in the comments, but I think we all can agree that this is NOT a smart phone for the masses.
i work in sales for cingular and i totally agree, RIDICULOUS. that is way to much.

Yeah it’s too much, i am looking for a smartphone for work.
I thought this was gonna be my first smartphone but with that price I might just have to get a nice flip phone.

The $199* (Note the star) is for a two year contract with unlimited data for two years.
still cheaper than the $500 I paid for my 700w…. so quitcha bitchin :)
