Addicted to the internet?!
Researchers insist – based on clinical studies (?) – that one in eight Americans is addicted to the internet! [via] Holy Batman & Robin! Addicted to the internet?!
The United States could be rife with Internet addicts as clinically ill as alcoholics, a study suggested. Researchers at Stanford University School of Medicine in Stanford, California, said their telephone survey indicated more than one in eight US residents showed at least one sign of “problematic Internet use.”
To be honest, I may be addicted in some form to the internet. Sometimes when I’m sitting quietly by myself, I get this itch to walk over to the computer and hit refresh on the feedreader. Wait, what am I talking about? The computer never leaves my side, there is no “walking” involved.
Now let’s all be honest and open here with one another. Internet-user to internet-user… How many meals have you missed in the past week because you were too busy with your online activities?

way too many… and let’s not talk about undone homework :/
curse you rss!! curse you and let me go back to my chicken! (Gotta love Zim)
I suppsoe i miss lunch and live of the sugar in my drinks! Other than that I eat very well and exercise regurlarly in between my 12 hours sleep and 4 hours school!!
technically none since i dont plan on eating meals when on the internet. i now weigh 83 pounds and plan on selling my diet plan on the internet. dont steal it
I never miss meals… but I get pretty scary if I can’t at least check my email for more than 42 hours.
I admittedly am TOTALLY ADDICTED TO THE INTERNET because of UNEASY SILENCE!, DAMN YOU! hahahahahahh
I have to check my RSS feeds every morning or I get internet withdrawal. I then check them out again at work, and again later that day when I get home. Ahhhh!!!
But I kind of justify it by seeing it as an alternative to reading a newspaper. I also eat healthy and visit the gym way too often.
ok, I see no problem being addicted to the internet. It’s not [directly] physically damaging, and it connects you to literally limitless amounts of data and information. You have access to the entire world at your fingertips. I for one welcome the day when we are all telepatchically linked to one central network at all times.
and no, that’s NOT sarcasm
hi, my name is mister macphisto, and im a netaholic.
overuse of the internet has caused me to lose my social skills. now, i can only talk to people through a cable.
that was lame, i know
well see, I’m on the internet for many hours of the day, but that doesn’t mean I’ve lost my social skills. I still go party, hang out, date. I just honestly don’t see the problem. I see this sort of like people saying, “he’s addicted to reading” I don’t see it as a bad thing
