Send any files with download tracking

Sending large files to friends and family can always turn into a giant headache. There’s always the frugal attempts to send via email only to discover email client limitations. There’s always FTP’ing large files and then attempting to explain the procedure of downloading to recipients. Finally, there are services like Box.net which offer free online file storage and sharing. The downside, again, is limited connections with so-so upload rates.

The essential key to sharing files with others is moderation. That’s where Dliveo comes into play. Dliveo allows users to send large files or packages to others without the mess of having to watch your connection or opening an FTP-client. Dliveo splits your files into more manageable pieces and sends files(s) to the intended recipients who then use Dliveo to stitch everything back together. In addition, Dliveo also offers download tracking so you know when your files were successfully received. The downside of all this? Dliveo requires that a) both the sender and receiver have the Dliveo software installed, and b) both users are running Windows.

The service is very much like Pando (currently in beta) which offers the same functionality while supporting both Windows and OS X. Which one are you going to play with?

I think i’ll stick with http://FTP... at least for now it’s the easiest way for me. I do not grant FTP acces to my clients, but give them the direct download link… that’s super easy for them (bad thing is upload time)…
