Microsoft to virtual computers: “Pay More”
This post was published 3 years 4 months 27 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding.Microsoft’s new operating systems name, Vista should stand for “pay more.”
As a part of Vista’s new licensing procedures, Microsoft has announced that only Vista Business and Ultimate will be legally permitted to be installed in a virtual machine.
So, Parallels is a virtual machine. This means that in order to have a legal install of Vista on Parallels, you must have either Business or Ultimate.
That being said, there is nothing yet that prevents you from installing Vista Home or Premium in Parallels, and as of yet Windows Genuine Advantage and Activation will not block Home versions of Vista from activating on a virtual machine.
To add insult to injury, Microsoft has stated that buyers of retail copies of Vista will be able to transfer their software to a new machine only once [via]. If they want to move their software a second time, they will have to buy a new copy of the operating system.
WTF!
that won’t fly.. there will be letter writing I hope… I hope
Microsoft wants to shot itself in the leg or what? Regardless, I’ll give it 2 months before cracked DVDs of Vista will be running around after the release. The more painfull companies try to make our experience, the sweeter doing naughty things against them feels…
…or so I’m told.
Microsoft really sucks….and that’s a FACT!
Thats realy bullshit!
I own a MacBook and I am running Vista on my Mac with Parallels. Need it for work(sad thing that I have to use this crap), but if this version ends up working after an update Microsoft implements a new checking routine, I´ll blow em…
The only PC running Win(XP)(fully licensed) is the kids computer(for games), and when ever exchanged, there will only be place for Ubuntu or so.
Microslave, you suck!
