Demand Safety is a Canadian based campaign motivating employees to demand safer work conditions. Although the site is geared to our northernly neighbors, the idea and importance of safety on the job is a serious topic.

Demand Safety at work

The site is littered with gruesome images remind visitors of some of the more realistic / horrific injuries sustained while on the clock. More scary are the actual collected figures [NSFW] for injuries sustained. Go ahead, watch some of the video clips of first person accounts of injuries sustained while on the job.

I remember getting a paper-cut and a few bumps & bruises at my first place of employment. Expected injuries while moving heavy boxes. Some of the true stories sound eery. Anyone sustain any serious injuries while on the clock at work?

seriously injured my back in my old job – lifting a keg of beer – i was pretty much in bed for a week or so, but nothing like some of those guys!

I still have some pain in humid days somewhere in the middle of my back, caused by lifting a heavy carpet by myself.
Oh, and one day I almost got electrocuted by a lighting which fell on a nearby telephone box and entered through the line to the modem of the computer i was working with. The modem and half of the components of that computer became useless, of course.
