I’ll get the ball rolling by saying nothing more then: “I’m saying nothing”

  2. Cassie says:

Not to sure what to say. I’m not religious, and I don’t have any issues with religion. But, my only question is are the kids willingly going to the camps. No matter the age of a person, choice is important.

  3. Dylan says:

I don’t know what to say. Looking at the kids, I thought “Wow, what is this doing to their minds?” Then, I had myself thinking “Whats so wrong?” I have mixed views on the “Radical Youth” movement, but, I neither support nor oppose.

  4. Jay says:

    *shakes head*

  5. Christopher says:

Just makes you worry about the mental condition of the parents if they even consider committing their children to such a ridiculously tunnel-visioned schooling. You go to one of these things, you come away from it with a one-sided, unhearing view of all other religion and sides of arguments.

And I kid you not; you try and have a sensible discussion making comparisons with Darwin’s theory of Evolution and Creationism with a devoutly Christian person, and pretty soon it’ll descend into farce and/or a shouting match.

There’s one thing I can’t stand, and it’s the people who are just so up their own asses with their belief in religion that they shutter their own sensibilities and abandon common sense – with those kind of people, it’s like talking to a brick wall for all the good you can get out of it. It’s even worse when they try to start converting you to their way of thinking!

  6. Cassie says:

As I said before. No problem with religion. Infact I think its good to believe in something. But, how do a bunch of little kids at that age, get so passionate about something like that. Do they even understand whats going on?

  7. CM says:

    This shit is retarded.
After getting brainwashed whit this crap these kids will be mental and emotional cripples. Their only recourse will be to run for President.

  8. Jon says:

    oy vey

  9. Derek says:

Whoa I recognized someone in that clip!!! J/k. On a serious note, it’s ridiculous and misleading to use religion as a method to “brainwash” our youth. This kind of reminds me of that movie Children of the Corn.

  10. Roy says:

just because it’s based on the christian religion doesn’t change the fact that this is a cult.

  11. Roy says:

So I see the Tampon projection slinger in the next post, is that one of their weapons?

  12. Matt says:

The woman goes on to say something along the lines of “getting them empowered like islamics etc”.

So does that mean that they are getting them so deep and crazy about their religion that they are going to be the next generation of suicide bombers? Because by the looks of some of those kids, they are a little too into it. One even said something almost like he was willing to die for his religion.

Strange… Oh well, as long as they don’t make them into crazy people.

  13. dantino says:

A nice mind exercise for this documentary would be to imagine “Jesus Camp” based on any other religion say , i dont know, Islam.

I’m totally in favor of the ‘choice’ idea, but then again, at that age its not really about choosing its about discovering. Many of the people I know that went to stuff like that completely gave up on faith (e.g. me), I went to one and that was more than enough, thank u very much.

Par contre, I do believe they generally impose a strong “Us and Them” attitude, which is very unhealthy.

  14. Erik says:

Well, let’s be fair. Every parent raises their children to have their values, and undoubtedly some go too far. I doubt that the “liberal feminist” chick they interviewed is going to be cool and accepting of her child growing up to be a conservative christian. People with extreme beliefs are usually intolerant no matter what side of the political or spiritual spectrum they may fall on. I’m not saying this is balanced and good. However, these kids are no different than the angry treehugger hippies I get to share the beautiful state of Washington with.

Let’s just be thankful our country protects all of our rights to have our own beliefs, as nutty as others may think they are.

  15. Paul B says:

Woah, these little kids are gonna kick our asses one day.

  16. Mike D says:

Attaching that movie to actual evangelical Christians is ridiculous most have less insanity involved

  17. SMASH says:

i keep thinking this says jessie camp… that old mtv vj that was s herion addict adn skinny as a twig… i met him once at a cubs game haha.. he was all like heyy heyyyyy im jessiee wooooo look at meeee if i turn side ways you cant see meee

    rambles haha sorry

  18. Cassie says:

    @ Derek
    Lol

Children of the corn was a great movie. That clip deffinately had something like that going for it.

  19. JJ says:

There are somewhat same but totally different kinds of religious camps where I live, and most of the young population go there in the age of 14-15. It is said to be a religious event, however, the time (~a week) is usually spent with having fun and concentrating more on the girls rather than some mysterious god… We had to learn the decalogue and some nice stories from the bible. And of course we did, so we could spend more time with having fun.

Its been about eight years, and all I can remember is the good memories. It seems that their brainwashing didnt work, because I dont believe in gods. And why should I support such organisation, which doesnt admit that evolution exists.

But all the stuff they did on that video is very extreme, these two events cannot be compared with anything else than the basic idea. Those are training camps for religious extremists, I hope the kids have still their own will left to decide which path to follow.
Like we all should remember, the history repeats itself.

  20. biga says:

My…go-.. erm.. ok i need another exclimation. ok the onlything i have to say what dantino said about if some other religion did it, most ANNY other religionm it probobly would be called a threat to “us”.

  21. Leo says:

I could see one of these kids shooting up their school a few years down the road…

  22. thisiswritersblock says:

I think this is a classic example of how certain slivers of society will react when there is such deep divisions amongst our leaders. The MSM will only put the spotlight on extremism, because that is what keeps people tuned in. Howard Dean, Cindy She-man (Sheehan?), Mark Foley, Hitler Clinton, Jerry Fallwell, so on and so on…. [I can't think of equal numbers of far right/left ~ sorry]

At any rate, without seeing the documentary and only seeing clips, it seems a little “out there” to me.

    Twilight Zone anyone?

  23. Chris says:

Religion gives God a bad name.

  24. Carlos says:

“Religion gives God a bad name.”

    Brilliant.

  25. Micke says:

    SICK!

  26. Nathaniel says:

How many kid’s parents won’t let them go because ehm hem…the pastor is a woman? Yes, many still say it’s a job for men only.

This steals from childhood. Vacation Bible School is all well and good, but getting children involved in the anti-Abortion, anti-same gender, anti-evolutionary thought movements is only to deny them the ability to develop a brain which can weigh the options. They honestly can’t have the slighttest clue. How are they to understand an abortion if they certainly won’t have a clue about reproduction?

  27. chad says:

“I want to see our youth laying down their lives for the lord, like in Pakistan, and Israel…” – Some Crazy Lady

Ahem… she forgot a couple locations… like in Iraq, and the planes of 9/11… lets not forget here people… the terrorists we are fighting in the middle east believe pretty much this same stuff but they god they pray to has a different name and beliefs.

Whenever you see the road side bomb videos they always chant “allah achbar” repeatedly. This is because they believe killing the “non believers” is the way it should be to apease their god… oh and the pictures of 9 year olds holding guns to the heads of other 9 year olds in Isreal is just the kinda thing I wanna see here in the states when I support seperation of church and state.

To each his own, and believe whatever you want, but as soon as some nut bag 20 something comes up to me and threatens me because I don’t believe in his jesus he is going to have a problem on his hands…. a very angry and serious problem.

  28. JM says:

“Vacation Bible School is all well and good”

    No it isn’t.

Kid1: Daddy, where are we going?
    DAD: Vacation….
    Kids: YAY!
    DAD: …Bible School!
    Kids: D’OH!
