Planning on researching the offbeat and quirky? Strive for an lg Nobel, or an alternative to the actual Nobel Prize. Ivan Schwab, of the University of California, Davis, did just that and was awarded the lg Prize for his research concerning headaches and Woodpeckers – more specifically, why Woodpeckers do not suffer headaches despite persistent pecking [on wood] up to 12,000 times a day.

Let’s brainstorm and generate a list of ideas worthy of an lg Prize.

    2. If a tree falls in the forrest, and there is no one to hear it, does it make a sound?
    3. Do skunks smell themselves, and if they do it, are they disgusted, or pleased?
    4. if you sneeze with your eyes open, do they really pop out?
