AIM Light? Just what the doctor ordered
This post was published 3 years 5 months 12 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. Finally! AIM moves in the right direction and releases a light version of its overly bloated Triton client (and all the other ad-laden pieces to come out of production). Prior to AIM Light, any sane user was forced to run a 3rd party utility (AIM Adhack) to clean the application of any nefarious software bits.

No more need to go through all the trouble. If you’re hell bent on using AIM software rather than something like Trillian or Gaim, check out the latest AIM ES.
AIM Light has no ads, no VOIP, no file-transfer, and a TINY footprint… in fact, I think it is the lightest IM client you run on your machine. This is something you could run on OLPC level machine (yes, I know it’s a Windows product right now, but you get the idea). #
I’ve taken it for a little spin on Windows XP via Parallels and am quite impressed. Who needs VOIP or file transfer?!
I still love Miranda. It doesn’t have all the bells and whistles that Trillian has, but it’s so light on system resources that I really don’t mind the trade-off – and I’m a geek so I love the fact I can customize every aspect of it.
If I really ever need to talk to someone I just boot up Skype.
The only reason I do use AIM Triton is because of the VOIP, Video, and File Transfer cababilites . . .
I dont know anyone using VOIP, and who would actually need this on a Mac? Keep it on windoze, ill keep my iChat.
i actually like the file transfer capability
