The above video is a prototype that learns movement, just as a baby would, by watching and mimicking human behavior. It is guided by a ‘vision system’ that imitates wireframe images at 150 frames per second. The hand can pinch, and pickup objects. The ultimate goal of the project it to have skin soft pressure sensors that enable it to write with a pen.

The video after the jump features a robotic hand that uses a traditional motion sensing glove that mimics the operators movement, as a computer translates the motion information.
