Want to make Quicktime a more robust video player? Check out the Perian plugin [via] (OS X only) which will add support for the following video formats:

  • Divx, XviD, FLV, AVI
  • MS-MPEG4 v1, MS-MPEG4 v2, MS-MPEG4 v3, DivX 3.11 alpha, 3ivX, Sorenson H.263, Flash Screen Video, Truemotion VP6
  • These formats when they are inside an AVI:
    h.264, mpeg4, AAC, AC3 Audio, and VBR MP3.

FLV from within Quicktime?! Awesome. Now all we need is an equivalent Windows solution.

This is a kind of fake. You cannot download it. Has been on coolOSXapps as well and it has been removed some minutes ago.

Well when I posted that it was still in beta. I am on the Dev Team and this was leaked onto digg before it was supposed to be released. Hence the .5 version number instead of the 1.0
