Stingrays aren’t at fault
The ignorance of certain individuals never fails to amaze me. Mutilating stingrays [via] because of a single freak accident which claimed the life of the Crocodile Man Steve Irwin? Ridiculous.
When a stingray killed the flamboyant naturalist Steve Irwin last week, his fellow Australian Germaine Greer outraged many by writing: “The animal world has finally taken its revenge.” Now, it seems, the human world is hitting back.
Up to 11 stingrays have been found dead and mutilated on Australia’s eastern coast since the Crocodile Hunter’s death, prompting fears that Irwin’s fans are exacting their revenge on the normally docile fish.
No doubt that those involved in the mutilations were fans of Mr. Irwin. If that were the case, those individuals should feel extremely guilty while asking themselves, what would Steve say?

Australians are morons and racists anyway.
*had* to point out that Germaine Greer is nobodies “fellow australian”.
Suffice to say that she has been saying things on the basis of her words being controversial for the last thirty-odd years. Australian politicians (such as Queensland Premier Peter Beattie) have gone so far as to say on air not to come back to australia (because she’s living in England or something at the moment), otherwise they’ll double her taxes. :P
He would say- Crikey wtf :)
(and germaine greer is a bitch and should rot in england :) – stay off our shores)
Thanx for the tip, I’d say most of us Americans have never heard of her (wasn’t even sure it was a her).
Why don’t people start killing other people? After all we are the dumbest, most selfish creatures on earth.
Stingray’s=1 kill
Humans(2 world wars, holocaust, pretty much each day)=1000010001001010101001010101 kills..and counting
Singrays are the gentlest of creatures. I’ve hand-fed them, had them swimming all over me, and petted them stem to stern. They’re like big underwater puppydogs. People are morons. Irwin startled the poor animal into a reflexive defensive reaction.
Julia
yeah, as much as I respected they guy and liked the work he was doing, there’s no denying that this happened as a direct result of what he did. He HAS been doing this all his life, and anytime anyone mentioned him, someone was bound to say, “He’s gunna get himself killed one day!” Well, it’s happened. He died doing what he loved, but it’s not the stingrays fault.
The tides are turning as the earth heals itself from the damages of the current regime.
Lesson to learn: stop messing with creatures in their habitats.
Preemptive striking, especially for the lully amusement of couch potatoes, is far from cool.
mackmack,
There are seventeen known deaths from the stingray genus that killed Steve Irwin. Hardly publicised though.
