Activate your MacBook Pro’s keyboard backlight in Windows
If you are using BootCamp on your MacBook Pro, you are certainly missing your keyboard backlight. Why wait for Apple to release the full set of drivers in the final version of BootCamp sometime next year when you can get that feature now.
Dmitri has put together a set of tools that will keep a small tray resident application which lets you activate and control the keyboard light, it also accesses the light sensors to resemble the automatic light adjustment to the environment light as you know it from Mac OS X.
It does take a little bit of ‘hackery’ to install the thing, but it seems to work. I think the harder part is to sift through his webpage. None the less, this application is a freeware to download and use.
But as with all third party non signed Windows drivers, please use caution even thought I encountered no problems you may.

This has been documented on the OnMac wiki for a while. Albeit this new version seems greatly improved over the first one which asked for a numerical value to be entered. Nice to see this little app getting updated!
whoa! it does work! nice one Dan!
I updated the MacBook tray tools with the new version v0.3 which doesn’t require any hackery to install :-)
Thanks for the feedback! Hope you enjoy it.

I was about to write one myself, and while I was searching for failed attempts, I found this one, which sure works… you saved me a night of coding :)
Thanks, and good work!
Cheers!
