This seems like the deal of the day! Amazon has the 15.4″ MacBook Pro 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo (MA463LL/A), 512MB, 80GB HD, slot-loading SuperDrive (DVD+-RW), ATI Mobility X1600 128MB GDDR3 video (DVI, VGA out), built-in iSight video camera, Gigabit Ethernet, Built-in AirPort Extreme WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, Infrared Apple remote, scrolling TrackPad and illuminated keyboard available for only $1699 – $200 rebate (expires 9/12) = $1499 with free shipping.

Not a bad considering the Black MacBook is the same price. I’d rather take the slight processor hit and have a MacBook Pro, then a MacBook. Agree?

I’ve got this bad boy, but with 1.5GB RAM. Backlit keyboard is very nice on the MBP. I moved up from the 12″ PB, which is wonderfully small. The MBP is so freaking thin that it doesn’t feel huge like the G4 did. Maybe it’s more stiff. I can’t qualify it, but it’s easy to hold one-handed. I’m very mobile with this machine. It is running Win XP on Parallels as I type. I’ve got a bunch of Apps open, some Universal, some not.

Apple has done a tremendous job in engineering this and the OS. I could never go back to running just Windows or using a mere PPC processor. This is the machine that does more than any other portable computer ever did. And it’s faster and smoother than I ever hoped. A faster hard drive would be all I could ask for.

The webpage says the list valure is $1799.99 – $200.00. Maybe they changed it?

Nevermind. I didnt click on the “see the low price” thing.

    To Nora:

A faster drive, and a couple more USB outputs and another firewire one. And maybe a normal PCMCIA slot. And maybe a firewire 800 socket.

Other then that, it’s magnificant. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone so that only I’ll have the coolest laptop around.
