After speaking with Aaron from Box.net about a month ago concerning the idea of extending Box.net features, I was excited to hear of a new “LITE” service. The new Box LITE facet of Box allows users with an option to quickly upload files for sharing online. Current Box users will automatically have any uploaded files added to their accounts saving time and effort rather than logging directly into accounts. Once files are uploaded, Box LITE generates a convenient button for sharing on your personal blog, MySpace, or general websites. Check out the official announcement on the Box blog.
Usage is as smooth as a hot knife cutting through butter.
- Navigate to the new Box LITE page.
- Select the file to share using the service prompt (10MB upload limit).
- Enter your credentials – Box uses AJAX goodness to cross reference your credentials with any existing Box.net accounts. If you do have a Box account, any files uploaded through the LITE interface will automatically be added to your account.
- Select ‘Upload’.
- Box will kick out the link for sharing including a convenient button graphic for inserting into your various online pages on the net.
share your files at box.net
