Ah Ha! The reason for horrible Sprint text messaging delays
This post was published 3 years 6 months 28 days ago which may make its actuality or expire date not be valid anymore. This site is not responsible for any misunderstanding. If you are a “PowerVision” (EVDO) Sprint customer, within the last couple of months you may have notice horribly delayed text messages, and all sorts of SMS errors. As a large Sprint customer, I was able to speak directly with level three technician (hey guys, I know you are reading this), all but they could say on the record was that Sprint was “upgrading” their systems.

Now I can explain what these mysterious upgrades are, thanks to PCSIntel.
Over the past week, Sprint has been deploying a massive expansion of their SMS text messaging features. The new SMS functionality integrates with Sprint’s My PCS account access system. It allows customers to both log in and send, as well as read text messages without their phone.
The new My PCS Text Messaging tools function similar to an email client, and maintain a list of recent text messages, allowing you to recall their contents even if deleted from the phone. Text messages sent will appear to recipients as if they were sent directly from the phone itself.
While in-deployment, appearing on and off Sprint.com, the service has been problematic for Sprint to deploy. During the launch process, Sprint cautions that the service may cause some glitches. It also was responsible for a national text messaging outage that caused problems sending messages for several days.
One of the most demanded features that has been added is the ability to have both a blocked sender list, and a block-all-senders-except list, allowing people to avoid SMS charges from spammers or services they wish to block. No other U.S. carrier provides such a high level of online access currently. You can access these tools by logging in to your account, navigating to My Online Tools and selecting Text Messaging. Although these features sound cool, especially with the ability to BLOCK SMS messages, is there really a reason to leave customers in the dark when there are major problems?
this is a lot like nextel’s text messaging when it first came out
One step forward…
I’ve been on the phone with them everyday about this. Its nice to know that I wasn’t being told the truth and being fed crap.
So has anyone heard when they might actually release the online access? It was available last week and it is no longer there.
I was told by sprint that the online feature of reading stored text messages is not going to be brought back. Something about it causing marriage problems. I can understand this since this is how I found out that my wife was cheating on me.
thats messed up racman.
I hate sprint. pay all this damn money a month for service that never works!!!!
Sprint services don’t break up marriages. Cheaters and liars who send text messages break up marriages. It sucks that they won’t allow the tools they develop to be used. Sorry to hear that your wife was doing that to you racman. We have something in common.
If you can switch to T-Mobile. I know sprint may be clear with their CDMA technology, but Tmobile gives you the world for almost nothing. Unlimited Data for just $5 a month. Sprint still trys to charge you minutes for data. I used to live in Overland Park ( world headquarters of sprint ), and I still had dropped calls right outside their campus. Sprint Sucks Period!!!
Thanks for the intel. We just started having the problem in Las Vegas today. I just called and I get the “we are having a nation wide outage” being a person that understand how things work, I said is it a main line cut, an upgrade, what is it? They didn’t know. Just leave it alone. Unless we can start sending pictures with Sprint Service on our BB’s, then leave the text alone. Unless they are going to make the text wrap and auto-divide.
Has anyone recieved calls but never actually got them?
And does that even have anything to do with this at all?
Sprint is terrible!
