apple is so stupid, people will soon get sick of being locked down and will be eager to switch just as soon as someone has something better to offer. not only a better player, but a better digital download solution. competitors have some catching up to do before this happens.

as a recent convert from an Olympus m:robe MR-100 (5gb mp3/wma player) to The Real Thing, I have to say the ipods really are the best thing around… now with out-of-the-box winamp integration (and a plugin available for older versions of WA), I don’t see how it could get any better

being an mrobe user for over a year, I’ve heard ‘is that an iPod’ more often than ‘is that an mp3 player’?

competitors – face it, you’ve been beat. unless you come up with something Way Cooler Than An Ipod, there’s no catching up…
