Watch out Odeo, Here comes Google!

Posted in AV, Cool by Dan at 12:40 pm

Google has snuck a “Google Video” style MP3 player into the GMail interface which can be used to play audio attachments in GMail. When you receive an audio file as an email attachment, click the play button and Google will play the audio file for you in a popup window. Yawn fest, right?

However this neat little feature can be hacked, to play any MP3 you want as an embedded flash player on any external site.

The code that the embedded music player uses the call:
http://mail.google.com/mail/html/audio.swf?audioUrl=MP3_URL

The rest of the instructions after the jump…

So you just stick in the URL of the MP3 you want to embed, using an iframe in your website and BAM, you have a built in beautiful embedded flash MP3 player - as illustrated:

Enjoy!

    ….I hate myspace…

  13. So, I thought I’d do this. Made some files in to 56kbps, to make them small.
It plays it twice as fast. Listening to Trivium with chipmunk like vocals is hilarious.
    Any idea why?
