Think Progress has the scoop – Bush confirms that Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks on 9/11.

BUSH: The terrorists attacked us and killed 3,000 of our citizens before we started the freedom agenda in the Middle East.

QUESTION: What did Iraq have to do with it?

BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

QUESTION: The attack on the World Trade Center.

BUSH: Nothing. Except it’s part of and nobody has suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a Iraq the lesson of September 11th is take threats before they fully materialize, Ken. Nobody’s ever suggested that the attacks of September the 11th were ordered by Iraq.

Wasn’t the administration spitting something a little different a few years back? Video clip after the jump.

    Wow,such brand new News.

    “Video clip after the jump.”

    And the video is… where?

  4. akalaas says:

Sorry, Im found it in the link on the top.

  5. Emory says:

while i despise every last person in bush’s regime, and this story completely angers me to the point of backing away from the keyboard for a few minutes, I have to disagree with Dean about Loose change. I try to stay away from the whole conspiracy theories, unless they are probably true. The government, no matter HOW evil they are (trust me, I know they are) would not (and truth be told probably could not) order 9/11 to happen. And if they had somehow planned it all, there is no way that that video could have surfaced without the government shutting it down, claiming “nation security breach”. I mean, think about it, a government that could masterly and perfectly plan and execute the largest terrorist operation on the united states to date, killing thousands, and somehow they would be discovered by some punk? I called BS on that long ago.
    Still… I hate these people

  7. rikardo says:

    its a conspiracy alright,

    A conspiricy of stupidity

you merkins deserve everything you get

  8. Roy says:

Interesting idea, but I’m with Emory. If they [the gov] killed thousands, then why are the people who could have leaked such a story still alive?

  9. Ace says:

Because apparently No one believes them. Why Shut People Up, If No Ones Listening. They Just Scoff Them Off As “Conspiracy Theorists” Just Rambling Nonsense. Loose Change Is a Very Well Put Together Movie Giving Facts. It’s Free and I recommend anyone who is interested to watch it —– http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5946593973848835726&q=loose+change

  10. Emory says:

okay… but regardless, if they’e already killed thousands of people, as this conspiracy theory suggests, they would have no qualms abotu killing off a couple of guys that *somehow* managed to debunk the whole entire scam, by looking at some grainy videos. :P it would serve not purpous NOT to have them killed, it’s just too easy to risk them taking it this far. Just remember, if you squint real hard and sort of turn your head, you can find a conspiracy anywhere. XD I just try to be objective about these *huge government schemes*

Though, I should add, that I do believe this government has done some scary shit in the past that we don’t know about, I kind of doubt they would do something so publically

  11. Emory says:

Oh and Derek, Yeah i read that article somewhere,i think it maybe was in last months pop mechanics, cant remember, but it’s a good piece. broken link though

  12. Dylan says:

No Iraq did not order the 9/11 attacks. Yes President Bush is an idiot. But he never said “Iraq ordered terrorists to attack our country on September 11, 2001,” did he? And though they weren’t responsible for the World Trade Center incident, who’s to say there weren’t other occasions when they did? Come on! It’s Saddam Hussein we’re talking about!

A little off topic: Hey Emory, wanna tell us what makes the government evil? A LOT more of us would be on the street, hungry, sick, and dead if there was no government. I’d suggest showing a little gratitude. But you are right about the government ordering 9/11. Did they stop to think about WHY the government would want to slaughter 3,000 US citizens?

  13. Dylan says:

That’s kind of hypocritical of you. You say you stay away from conspiracy theories and their ilk, but then you admit that you believe conspiracy theories when you say “this government has done some scary shit in the past…”

  14. Steven says:

‘But he never said “Iraq ordered terrorists to attack our country on September 11, 2001,â€Â? did he?’

    There’s the rub.
