Run MacOS 6 and 7 on an Intel Mac

This is a fun little hack, and will only improve over time! Once Apple made the switch to Intel processors, they also killed support for the “Classic” operating environment. With Mini vMac you can almost bring that support back and run up to Mac OS (7.0.1) on Linux, Windows, PocketPC, or MacOS X.
All you need is:
- The Mini vMac emulator. The 2.8.2 beta works fine with the Intel Macs
- A ROM image. If you don’t have a ROM image, you can find one for the Mac Plus here for the Mac or here for the PC.
- A blank disk image that acts as the emulators hard disk available here.
- System software. Easily available here.
Carefully read the instructions here, to learn how to properly install the ROM and System Software, and you are good to go. It is only a matter of time until this emulator can support OS9. [via]
OMG, if this would play the mac version of Vette! I would go out and buy a mac just for that game. The PC version sucks.

This is SheepShaver, a Universal Binary fully capable of running OS9 on Tiger.
vMac emulates a Mac Classic or a Mac Plus .
These Mac’s don’t support Mac OS 9 & maybe even not Mac OS 8.
So i’ll guess you’ll be stuck with Mac OS 7.6 , System 7 , 6 or below.
Is it only a matter of time before vMac will support Mac OS 9. What will they do make a rewrite so it emulates a more recent Mac , i wonder why they didn’t do that years ago so pecee users could run a more recent Mac.
I must admit i’m pro vPowerMac too but i guesh this only is futile hope
if anyone noticed, that when the writer of the blog “Run OS9 on an Intel Mac” posted the link to his Mac_OS_ROM for Sheepshaver that Rapidshare no longer has that file on their server. Sheepshaver no longer works on an Intel Mac, as there are no ROMS curculating the web anymore (at least i don’t think there is) If the writer of that blog could post that ROM it would be great.
. . : : Great Blog, Just Missing somehting : : . .
You can usually find the classic mac os rom’s on big torrent sites
