MacBook owners – fire up your updater

I held off from posting about the latest SMC update for MacBook owners. The reason being that I wanted to get a real world comparison of the before and after effects of installing the firmware update.

I can personally attest to the overall performance difference. After running the MacBook with the update since its release, processor temperature has dropped significantly from the mid 70C – 80C average to 40C – 50C range. A great improvement for MacBook owners complaining that their notebooks were running a little too hot. No more complaints of MacBook’s cooking eggs right?

Run your software updater Apple Menu > Software Updates to grab the latest firmware.

“The SMC Firmware Update adjusts fan behavior in the MacBook.”

I have a feeling that people are going to complain that their MacBook is too noisy, or moos now.

Quite the contrary I hope. From what I’ve heard, people who were previously complaining of moo’ing no longer suffer from the issue.

Mine is *significantly* cooler…no more towels/newspapers between the Macbook Pro and my legs.
