Bert & Ernie going adult

There’s something about fuzzy felt characters that just won’t bode well for an adult theatrical presentation. Does anyone else agree?

The creators of The Muppets and Sesame Street are staging a puppet show that is strictly for adults only. [...] “Avenue Q was very, very clever. They are specifically parodying Sesame Street with an adult twist. Team America is a more unique choice as they decided to do it with marionettes.”

The creators of the Muppets may have missed the boat on this one. I can’t imagine something like this garnering much attention stateside. Could you imagine the reactions of the PTA club meetings?

Have you seen Avenue Q? It is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen on stage. I would definitely try to see this as well (but I’d leave my 3-year-old home, and probably not mention it to him, he LOVES Sesame Street).
