Ripeness sticker does the hard stuff

ripe sticker

This sticker takes the cake and outshines the scratch n’ sniff stickers we all grew up with. Everyone knows that picking ripe fruit can be a hit or miss. Or maybe it’s just me? I can’t think of a single time that I have managed to pick a ripe cantaloupe. Now that we have stickers that detect a fruits ripeness, there are no more excuses for serving mushy fruit to guests.

Professor Riley from University of Arizona has invented and introduce Riley’s RediRipe stickers so that consumers tell if a fruit or vegetable is ripe.

The sticker turns from white to blue to indicate ripeness. A ripe fruit gives out ethylene gas which colours the indicator on the sticker. This will surely help male shoppers.

And in other news, fertility experts are hard at work creating a similar sticker to slap on woman for couples attempting to conceive. “Look hun! It’s ready!”

Neato! Surely this will spawn parody t-shirts and the like if it catches on.

so if it goes from white to blue, why is the sticker in the image red – i guess that banana is broken?
