There’s no fooling this shagg carpet

Although the applications for such smart carpets would most likely be reserved for high traffic areas – movie theaters, shopping malls, restaurants, etc – I can definitely see a wealthy geek making use the technology to control lighting whenever someone specific entered the bedroom.

Next time you lie about your age, remind yourself to check for suspicious carpet below your feet. Researchers over at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan has invented an intelligent carpet that is able to detect your weight, age and gender by simply having you stroll across it.

I say no thanks to the brainy carpet that will know my age & sex after walking across. I’ll take RFID tracking any day over some freakishly smart carpet. Just the idea of a brainy carpet makes me question the results when certain events / scenarios hit the floor.
