shiira 2.0 preview

Apparently curious minds are never at rest. Phil is currently showing the way to the coveted Shiira 2.0 Preview download link. I’m not entirely sure how the developers will feel about this download wandering the great unprotected internet. Nonetheless, download your copy of Shiira 2.0.

Note that this is an unsupported, unreleased, preferences are still in Japanese release so use at your own discretion. Worth a peak if you’re interested in playing with the next browser to leave all other browsers for OS X crying in the corner.

Good call, Derek – I was eager to see what was new with 2.0

Um, here is the sourceforge link: http://ksc.dl.sourceforge.jp/shiira/
Maybe they don’t mind it being on sourceforge and all?

    Here’s an excerpt from http://hmdt-web.net/shiira/en

Shiira is a web browser based on Web Kit and written in Cocoa. The goal of the Shiira Project is to create a browser that is better and more useful than Safari. All source code used in this software is publicly available

How exactly is it better? Why do I need it? Why am I suppose to care? What will it do for me?

    Questions I must know!

  6. Derek says:

The only real upsides I see for the Shiira browser are thumbnails and expose for tabs. It seems to load pages a little quicker than Safari despite running off the same core WebKit. Everyone has their own little details they embrace with each browser.
