How-To: Adium message style in Skype
Here’s a little tip for Skype / Adium users. If you’re interested in adding a little Adium style to your Skype text messages, why not load Adium style?
[It] turns out that the format of Skype’s “chat styles is the same as Adium’s message view styles. this isn’t something they openly tell people; the only evidence of it is a folder named “ChatStyles inside the Skype application bundle, with the built-in chat style in it. a cursory analysis suggested that the format might be the same, and this was proven when I dropped the chat style into Adium’s message styles folder (and changed its filename extension) and it worked.
Apparently, the work around is a straightforward and requires minimal work in the Terminal to get the Skype to recognize your Adium message styles. No need to rename files. The catch? You can not load both the default Adium styles and user customized styles at the same time. It’s on or the other.
