ClickTale – What exactly are your readers doing?

Clicktail

For the record, UNEASYsilence is not using the ClickTale service to monitor reading habits. However, I felt that the ClickTale service would be of interest to web admins who run a few sites on the side.

ClickTale shows you the full story: every mouse movement, every click and every scrolling action. By using ClickTale you will gain insights that will improve your website’s usability, enhance navigation, and increase effectiveness.

The fully hosted service monitors visitors to your page and returns a video – granted the required javascript is inserted – for your own viewing to track reading habits. While I fail to see the novelty of such a service, the actual use of tracking the path readers take throughout a site can be used as crucial information for site maintenance and improvements. This service is definitely for the stat whores who need a little more visual eye candy to track reader mouse paths.

The service is currently in a beta form but head on over and submit your email to be updated for an announcement or possible beta access. To find out more about the service, check out the FAQ.
