MySpace is #1?!
Hell has frozen over, and pigs are flying. MySpace, the bastardization of good web design was the #1 most trafficked website last week.
[It displaced] Yahoo Inc.’s top-rated e-mail gateway and Google Inc.’s search site, Internet tracking firm Hitwise said on Tuesday.
News Corp.’s MySpace accounted for 4.46 percent of all U.S. Internet visits for the week ending July 8, pushing it past Yahoo Mail for the first time and outpacing the home pages for Yahoo, Google and Microsoft’s MSN Hotmail.
Who would have ever thought that MySpace would overtake Google. Guess the Google folks are pretty miffed at this situation, considering they could have bought MySpace for half of what Fox paid. Instead they have Google Pages, and we all know how popular that is.

No one really knows if Google could have bought MySpace for half of what Fox paid. The widely reported comment from Rupert Murdoch is pure speculation.
With all the news about Myspace being the “new” pervert hangout, you have to expect that more and more perverts are going to check it out. Teens and twenty somethings use it as the new gossip center, in addition to texting on their cel phones, very unpopular if you don’t have a Myspace profile…anyway.
Remember that Hitwise only reports on page views, not visitors. MySpace users are still considerably fewer than that of Yahoo, Google, etc. It’s just that each visit to MySpace drives 100’s of page views.
The FOX employee side of me wants to be proud, but the web designer side of me wants to carve my eyes out with a grapefruit spoon.
There is a FOX employee in our midst – We love you the most Thomas!
Heh, I don’t know what you think singing my praises will get you, I just toil at one of the affiliate stations.
o 0 ( Wait, if I tell them that, they might turn against me! )
I mean, uh, I’ll let Rupert know that you’re a fan.
aaaaagh Fox!!!!!!
