Reading something like “20 years of PC Virsuses” really makes you stop and think about the progress made in personal computing. With every milestone in computing history comes an even greater milestone for virus writers.

From the early days of Malware spread via floppy disks, to a chronological look at the most destructive viruses of all time, it makes you question how we ever managed to continue enjoying personal computing.

Does anyone recall their first viral / malware attack? What were you doing? How long was it before you knew something was wrong with your system?

Nope. Always had a Mac. Never had a viral / malware attack…

Anything I’ve had has been minimal at the most. Always used virus protection, never big on floppy swapping, and was careful with emails even in the early days (”Here’s your porno, click to open”)…

Been in the business 16 years and have seen a lot – most destructive early one I remember was Michelangelo – just trashed the drive. Nothing left unless you knew more than I did back then (Which wasn’t hard…)

We’ve never been hit with one because we keep our machines well tweaked and don’t use Microsoft products that tend to pass on viruses, trojans and worms, oh! My!
