Apple admits discoloration a manufacturing defect

In what has been one of the quickest turn arounds concerning a hardware defect that I have seen first hand, Apple recently admitted that the yellow discoloration on select MacBooks can be attributed to a manufacturing defect.

Those with discolored MacBooks should contact AppleCare and inform them of the stain problem. The replacement top case should no longer have this issues, nor will the newest Macbooks as Apple seems to have changed the plastic, the newest MacBooks having a much smoother feel to them in those areas, while the ones with the problem feel rough.

The comments, emails, and forum discussion repsonses of “you must be a smoker”, “maybe you should wash your hands first”, and “this is why you dont’ get white laptops” were beginning to get quite old.

I’m taking a guess who Derek is on the phone with at this moment.

Why does it take a huge crowd to shake up apple…it’s the Nano scratching story all over again

Apple support hours are so lame. That and my previous call was ridiculous. The first thing that rep said to me was “you sound like you’re in a tunnel, call back when you have a better signal”. Click. I swear… Next week when I take this into an Apple Store they better help out.

Apple Customer Service is really like flipping a coin. I’ve never had a better customer service experience than with their help lines, but other people seem to have far more dramas.
