Re: the suggestion feature that the site and Firefox plugin do, that stuff is not available through the API, so it involves screen scraping to get those suggestions, which is not incredibly reliable. I'm currently playing around with it, but it's the kind of thing that if they pages ever change, Pukka could break which becomes a bit of a pain. I'm hoping it comes to the API, but my guess is it's really rough on the servers/database and they currently don't want to encourage the use of it that much.

Ok, I'm all over it now that I've got the bookmarklet working. It's great not to have to wait for the posting page to load. Great, simple utility with exactly the right features and appropriately spare UI.

Any chance we'll ever see something like the feature that enables us to see what tags other people have used? I do like the suggestion feature del.icio.us itself offers when posting....

Yeah....I was using the, um, other version of Pukka. :)

No seriously, I thought I'd tried it before this year, I guess I was thinking of something else. Anyhoo, thanks for the feedback; I'll check out the screencast.

Past couple years? I've only been working on Pukka since February. You may want to check out the screencast that I put together (about 5 minutes) that shows how Pukka can work with its own bookmarklet. The advantages include no waiting for the del.icio.us pages, multiple account posting, and background posting with optional Growl notification, among other things.

What makes this better than a javascript bookmarklet in my toolbar? I've given Pukka two chances over the past couple years, and it always seems to be more work than the bookmarklet. Am I missing something?

Thanks for the shout out! I'm glad you like Pukka. Please give me any feedback you have on making it better and I'll do my best! I too like to think of it as a mini blog post when I'm bookmarking things.
