(Another) “iPod killer” to be released
Once again someone believes they can undermine the popularity of the iPod. Will these guys ever give up? This time it’s Creative with their Zen V plus. Mind you it does have its advantages over Apple’s cult player. Not only can it play MP3s, show photos and play videos, but it has a built-in FM radio and line-in connection. Creative claim it will fit in the coin pocket of your jeans (déjàvu?).
It comes in 1GB, 2GB and 4GB models (sound familiar?), comes in white or black (again), has a 1.5-inch colour screen (now this is getting silly), and has a 15 hour battery life (that’s one hour more then the Nano).
There is also the Zen V version, without the plus, which doesn’t have the video support and the FM tuner. Prices will be revealed in August when the line is launched. Thing is, the next generation of iPods are expected soon, so Apple might counter act any blow by Creative, before they even launch it.

the Zen line of MP3 players far surpasses the quality and usability of the iPods to date… just my opinion… even the head phone buds that come from the factory have better sound quality with little built in bass enhancing “air tubes”.
just my $0.02
Come on chad, where’s your Apple spirit????
I don’t believe creative’s players are better than our so loved iPods… But I’ve always hated creative, so my opinion is quite subjective….
I can’t wait for Apple to launch it’s next iPod gen and then see Creative crying like a baby again, just like it did last time… They’re always trying to sue Apple, that’s quite funny… Just one word for them: LOOSERS!
Wow,thats really pathetic.
Stop being such a Fanboy,seriously.
I completely agree with you Viperboy. The biased spirit is all part and parcel of being a fan. I have never tried the Creative to be honest, but the iPod just has that magical feel to it. I must admit these Zen V’s do look cool… but they don’t have that edge.
Pathetic?
LoL
Man I just like Apple and that’s it. If you don’t like it, that’s your business, not mine xD. I had REALLY bad experiences with creative in the past and I’m not willing to have them again… I’m happy with iPods, so why should I change my “winning team”? Yeah, I’m an Apple Fanboy, and so what…?… if you don’t like, again, that’s your problem…
Go for creative if you like it… But I’m not ^^
Re:chad
How can you say that and sleep at night?! the “imitation iPods” as i call them can never surpass the real iPod simply because iPods are from apple.
haha most people that have stong opinions based on “its apple so its good, and better than everyone else” usually haven’t even used a creative zen for more than 1 minute while walking around best buy… I’m just saying… when your creative zen battery no long works… you can just go buy a new LiIon battery at best buy and your all fixed up.. not to mention it plays every file format including DivX…. that means no file conversion wasting time … plus it plays most audio formats ….
I love apple… but when people say a creative sucks compared to an Ipod … its seems mostly a stance of ignorance because both devices offer similiar features (except Zen’s are more flexible), similar hardware (except you can swap out batteries and listen to the radio), and similiar disk sizes (except Zen’s cost less)… with those points being raised… I suggest some of the fanboys back off of the “It’s good because they said its the best” train and take a second more educated look at the competition…. now I will prepare myself for the backlash of hatred about to come my way ;)
Love;
Chad
By the way, it’s “losers”. If you’re going to call someone a loser, you should not be one.
ill take a creative over ipod most any day. they look cooler, cheeper PRICE wise, radio. hell my zen micro even has a mic in the thing. so far the only complaint i have is i got a defective battery that doesnt last as long, but since like 2 or 3 of my friends got one too, i know that they usually lasts what creative said they will.
oh, and some reports have shown that the zen v will last well over the 15 hours battery life.
