Lets see the ridiculousness of this PR move by Universal. The format was launched less than two months ago, and I think you can count on two hands how many HD-DVD players have sold.
However the six HD-DVD users can rejoice, Universal will slash the price of its entire HD DVD library to $29.95; most current releases from the studio retail for $34.95. I think if you were stupid enough to buy a HD-DVD player now you should be punished with a HIGHER price not a lower one.
stupid enough to be able to afford something that is superior to whats out now?
well… technically if you have an HD-TV and an HD-DVD player … I don’t think prices on DVD’s really affect you… although you may need to shell out some extra dough to make sure you guy your Blu-Ray player … and maybe that a UMD player for all your PSP games… and then you can get your Memory Stick out of your Sony Camera…… you know what.. hopefully you see the ironic point I am trying to raise… I wait for a standards compliant format to be released before I go buy any of that HD on a disc stuff…
and I think thats what point Dan was trying to make Mr. Nic.
I guess, the price doesnt effect me then. Fry’s sells the HD-DVD’s for 20 bucks anyways, and yes if you can afford an HD-DVD player, im sure you can afford a few extra bucks for the movies.
I want my movies in HD NOW, and ill adopt both formats. Though i want Blu-Ray to win out, since the specs are much better than DVD 1.5 (HD-DVD) im actually working on a Holiday title for HD-DVD retail release.
Bottom line, i want my movies in HD now, HD-DVD is available, i dont make 5 cents an hour thusly i dont complain about the price of technology
