Nothing brings out the worst in people, like American Idol does. A kid faces charges for striking his mother in the head after the two argued about who would win the American Idol series.

The mother thought Katharine McPhee would win, the son thought Taylor Hicks would win.

Then the son stood up and struck his mother in the head with a sharpened, cross-shaped object attached to a bicycle chain. Nothing like having a weapon at your disposal. And yes, they were both drinking at the time.
