AllofMP3 which has more subscribers then some legitimate music services, has been a lightning rod for controversy lately. Experts are not too sure of the Russian legality of AllofMp3.com, due to weak Russian online copyright laws
Late last week, many subscribers to AllofMP3 were getting increasingly worried when the usual web page was replaced with a server maintenance message.
But it seems that AllofMP3 wasn’t shutting down, rather they were maintaining servers.
As far as we know the site is genuinely down for repair, an IFPI spokesperson told Slyck.com. “Russian authorities had ordered the seizure of some of the site’s servers a couple of weeks ago, but it switched to new servers and the service carried on.
As of today, AllofMP3 is back online, for how long is anybodies guess. [via]
Like alot of people, I started becoming worried about allofmp3 three weeks ago when I noticed that certain links were broken and there had been no music added to the “just in” bin. I, however, wasn’t smart enough to buy the stuff I wanted then, and when I tried to log on friday morning, hot to download a new cd, I realized what had happened. Allofmp3 was finished. I’m not 100% sure that they’re gone for good, but I’m about as close to that as one can be without solid, firm evidence. If for whatever reason allofmp3 comes back, you should only purchase and download enough to archive in a matter of hours. Treat time as a delicate privilage, because it could litterally be down again for good the next day.
