Scientists now have a little more information to explain why lonely humans resort to pounding a bottle of jagermeister after a long cold night:

Monkeys drink more alcohol when housed alone, and some like to end a long day in the lab with a boozy cocktail, according to a new analysis of alcohol consumption among members of a rhesus macaque social group.

These and other observed behaviors strongly correspond with human patterns of alcohol use. Researchers attribute a predisposition to alcohol abuse in some monkeys and people to a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

    So they’re getting monkeys drunk?
    OMG!!! The only thing more fun than a monkey is a barrel of monkeys, and the only thing more fun than a barrel of monkey’s is a barrel of beer.
    Logically fun + more fun = even more fun therefore barrel of monkeys + Barrel of beer must be the most fun item on the planet…
    How can I get a job these people?
