Fat man walking isn’t so fat anymore

One mans journey across the United States by foot is finally coming to a close:

At 410 pounds a year ago, the 40-year-old father of two from San Diego was battling a severe eating disorder and deep depression, caused by the guilt over accidentally killing two elderly pedestrians 15 years ago.

Vaught’s tipping point came last year when he was so obese that he couldn’t walk across a department store. So he decided a walk from Oceanside, Calif., to New York City would be just the cure.

He expects to conclude the journey Tuesday night, crossing the George Washington Bridge to New York City.

I find it tiring to walk from the first to the fifth floor each morning before class. I could not even begin to imagine the thought of walking clear across the entire country.

People all around the World walk a lot during their every day lives. In the US, people tend to drive a lot more, thus walk less. Heck, if you park at Lowes and Target is the second store next to Lowes, most people get in their car and drive 100-200 yards just to get to it. That is one of the reasons we have such high percent of overweight people in the US.

Some say, that it is not true, and the standards are too high. I disagree with that. If an average hot US girl goes over to Europe, she will feel depressed, because most of the girls in the same “average hot European” category are thin and in good shape. American women tend to have more butt, bigger thighs, and a bigger belly. Of course this is not neccesarily bad, but they would prbably be considered overweight in Europe.

I can’t stand people that wait around in the parking lot just to get the closest spot to the store. Why not just park at the first spot you find, and walk from there. People are so darn lazy these days!

Of course this is not true for everyone in the US, I am talking very general here. The bigger, busier cities do tend to have thinner looking people, who are less overweight. I believe that is because of their lifestyle, and their environment, and them excercising (walking) more.
