Password Gorilla – Cross platform password vault

If, like me, you find yourself scratching your head trying to remember that unique database mySQL admin password every now and then, Password Gorilla might be the answer to your problems. The cross platform password vault allows users to create unlimited sets of username / password sets locked under a secure master password. The only trick you have now is remembering the master password for the single .dat file that you can open up from any Gorilla executable.

I’ve just tried this and I am impressed. I’m not sure about the security, but I’m glad that I know that my passwords are now safe and I can stop using the same password for all my services and start using more complex ones. Thanks Derek for this great find!

Oh man. Dylan the same password for different services. Super bad idea. I think I read an article not too long ago where a website had managed to get a hold of hundreds of MySpace users account login information. Fortunately for the dupers, many of the users had used the same password for their Yahoo, Hotmail, and Gmail accounts.

Josh beat me to it, I’ve also been using keepass. It’s a great OpenSource program that can also be installed on a USB key. (Though I just double checked and Password Gorilla is also OpenSource, which is nice.
